THOUSANDS of Greek public sector workers STRIKE - labor law REFORM ROW brings Athens to standstill (Watch)
Wednesday’s 24-hour strike saw some 8,000 public sector workers protest in the capital – with no ferry services to the Greek islands available and urban transport DECIMATED for the 2nd time in a week.
Greek PM, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, said the reform will provide “transparency” as 1-in-4 workers are either UNDECLARED or partially declared to labor authorities.
The new law promotes flexible working hours, and sets tougher rules on strikes - with a 10-hour working day now also permitted. Opposition leader Alexis Tsiparas denounced the laws as a “return to the Middle Ages.”
